Parkinson's Disease Documentary.

Parkinson's Awareness Week (April 19th - 25th )

Following the success of the Real Radio Football Phone In charity video, Cindy-Lou has decided to make a short documentary on Parkinson's Disease with the aim to raise the awareness of this condition primarily, but also to raise funds for the LSG (Lanark & South Glasgow) Parkinson's group, of which her father is a member. Louis Ramsay was diagnosed with Parkinson's a few years ago and Cindy has witnessed at close hand the effect this disease has on its patients and their families. She feels that more should be done to show people what Parkinson's Disease is all about and has decided to use her skills and experience as a television camera operator to give the public an insight into what life is like with this degenerative disease.

Cindy-Lou's film will be shown at The Museum of Rural Life, Kittochside, East Kilbride during Parkinson's Awareness Week (19th - 25th April). There will be an official Opening Night held from 6pm till 7.30pm on Thursday 22nd when there will be a reception, special guests, a short introductory talk about Parkinson's, a screening of Cindy-Lou's documentary and a raffle and auction to raise funds for the LSG Parkinson's Group. We are still looking for local companies to sponsor the evening or donate raffle/auction prizes so if you can help, please get in touch! All proceeds go to the LSG Parkinson's Group who organise exercise classes, treatments, taxis, day trips etc which all contribute towards a better standard of life for the Parkinson's patients. All donations are gratefully recieved.

2007 saw the start of excavation on the Caledonian Pottery site, found off Farmeloan Road, Rutherglen.

The M74 Completion project has provided a unique and exciting opportunity to unearth and record some previously undiscovered local history. South Lanarkshire Council has welcomed the opportunity to work closely with the other Project Partners - Transport Scotland, Glasgow City Council, Renfrewshire Council and West of Scotland Archaeology Service - in developing and delivering a public archaeology programme which has allowed people of all ages and abilities to participate actively in the project.

A small and enthusiastic team of volunteers drawn from the local community has worked very closely with the Museums Service over the past year to develop and produce an exhibition on the history of the Caledonian Pottery in Rutherglen, which is on show at East Kilbride Arts Centre until 3 May 2009, before touring to Hamilton Town House from 9-30 May 2009 and Hunter House Museum, East Kilbride from 6 June-30 September 2009.

Cindy-Lou Ramsay has produced, directed and filmed a documentary film as part of this exhibition.
